Wooden nest box especially designed for Tawny Owls, Jackdaws and Stock Doves
The natural breeding sites of the Tawny Owls are in dark cavities in trees and buildings, located in the woods, along forest edges, in parks or in large gardens.
Therefore this nesting box should be located at those sites, especially to attract the Owls.
This nest box is also suitable for Jackdaws and Stock Doves.
Replacing lost natural habitats with specialist nesting boxes such as this box will provide suitable breeding spots for your local Owl population.
Simply hang the Owl nest box facing North or North-East, prevent it sitting in direct sunlight through the day and ensure a height from at least 4 metres from the ground.
Keep the approach route to your nest box entrance clear of any obstructions.
Then add some nesting material (turf, wood shavings, shredded bark...) inside the box.
Clean the nest box once a year (between July to September). If there are some Stock Doves using the nest box, make sure they stopped nesting (they can nest as late as November), so clean the box in December.
Open the front of the nest box, remove any old contents and refill it with a small layer of nesting materials (turf, wood shavings, shredded bark...).
Always check simultaneously the suspension at the backside and make sure it's fitted sturdy.
